GARYVILLE, LA, October 15, 2009 - Marathon Petroleum Company recently presented a check in the amount of $232,346 to the St. John United Way.  Donations were obtained from the employees of Marathon’s Garyville Refinery.  A Corporate gift in the amount $86,400 was included in this amount.  The local refinery was also instrumental in organizing the St. John United Way Golf Tournament, which collected nearly $75,000.

Dean Torres, St. John United Way, said, “We are extremely pleased with the effort of Marathon Petroleum and its employees.”  The pledge amount is the largest of any employer in St. John Parish.  United Way funds assist many human care agencies that provide services to the citizens of St. John Parish.
